Antique Belgian Gothic Chalice Ref 8987
Antique Belgian Gothic Chalice and Paten with spoon in solid silver gilt.
All pieces are made in solid silver and are gilded throughout. The Chalice has its silver hallmark.
The Cup is engraved with the words 'Calicem salutaris accipiam et nomen domini invocabo' in Gothic style lettering.
There is a small calix at the base of the cup formed from decorative filigree work.
The hexagonal stem has Gothic style arched windows engraved to all sides.
The central knop is formed from lattice work with crosses and windows. There are six oval shaped coloured stones, set with fine beading round.
The hexafoil petalled base has six circular blue and gold enamels, each in an attractive setting.
The enamels depict The Crucifixion, St Joseph & Child, Our Lady and Child, St Augustine of Hippo, St John the Baptist And St Anthony of Padua.
As the base steps down to the edge with lattice work in a Gothic cross design to the edge.
The well shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt. A small Gothic style cross is engraved to one side.
Also with this Chalice is a Scruple Spoon with fleur de lys top.
Chalice height 22cm. Base diameter 16.5cm. Diameter of top of cup 12cm. Diameter of Paten 16cm. Length of spoon 8cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 820g.
Complete with original uniquely designed case, completely shaped and fitted for this Chalice and its Paten beneath.
The case is lockable with working key and is in excellent condition for its age.
