Antique Belgian Gothic Chalice Ref 9029

Antique Belgian Gothic Chalice and Paten with spoon in solid silver gilt.
All pieces are made in solid silver and are gilded throughout. The Chalice was made by the silversmiths Bourdon of Ghent in the latter part of the 19th century.
The blending Paten is solid silver gilt and was made in London, 1873, by the Silversmiths Jones & Willis.
Both pieces have their respective silver hallmarks and maker's mark.
The Cup is finely engraved with each of the 12 apostles round the top, with the words 'Calicem salutaris accipiam et nomen domini invocabo' in Gothic style lettering below.
There is a small calix at the base of the cup with filigree work and bunches of grapes.
The hexagonal stem is formed with Gothic arches, each with deep blue enamel set behind.
The central knop is decorated with grapes and vine leaves, with six round amethysts at each point.
The pointed hexafoil petalled base is covered with decoration, with raised bunches of grapes and vines worked on each petal.
Central to each petal is a blue and gold enamel, these depict The Crucifixion, Our Lady and The Four Evangelists. At each point is a small red stone.
As the base steps down, small flowers are set into the steps.
The blending well shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt. The top side is richly engraved all round, and a central engraved Gothic cross to the centre.
Also with this Chalice is a Scruple Spoon with twisted stem.
Chalice height 23.5cm. Base diameter 16cm. Diameter of top of cup 11.5cm. Diameter of Paten 15.5cm. Length of spoon 9.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 888g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
