Antique Dutch Gothic Chalice Ref 8227

Antique Dutch Gothic Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt, dating from the early 20th century.
Both Chalice and Paten are made in solid silver and are gilded throughout. Made by the Dutch silversmith Bourdon of Gand in around 1907, the Chalice bears the maker's name on the base.
The Cup is engraved with 'Calicem salutaris accipiam et nomen domini invocabo' in Gothic style lettering.
Below the engraving is a small calix in decorative filigree style work.
The hexagonal stem is engraved with Gothic style arches.
The knop has decoration all over with grapes and foliage. Six lozenges are set with small blue and red stones, surrounded with fine beading.
The hexafoil petalled base is finished with further decorative work throughout. There are six round deep blue & gold enamels. These depict The Crucifixion, Our Lady, and the Four Evangelists.
The base steps down to the bottom, with fine beading to the edge.
The matching dish shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt and fits the Chalice well. It has an engraved Gothic cross design to the centre.
Chalice height 22cm. Base diameter 15.5cm. Diameter of top of cup 11cm. Diameter of Paten 15cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 659g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
