English Sterling Silver Gothic Chalice, Ref 8005
English Gothic Chalice & Paten in solid sterling silver.
Chalice was made by in London, England in 1881. Chalice and Paten are both hallmarked with English sterling silver hallmarks.
The cup is has Gothic style scrollage work to the base.
The hexagonal stem is worked in tracery with Gothic arches throughout.
The large knop has six coloured stones set round.
The large hexafoil petalled base has a cross worked to one side, and an engraved IHS opposite. Between these are four large oval shaped purple stones.
The blending well shaped Paten was made in London in 1933 by J Wippell & Co Ltd. The top side is hammer beaten and gilded and has an engraved IHS design to the centre. The Paten fits the Chalice well.
Chalice height 23cm. Base diameter 19cm. Diameter of top of cup 10.5cm. Diameter of Paten 16.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 899g.
The Chalice comes complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
