Antique Baroque Chalice and Paten Ref 7993

19th century French Chalice and Paten in Baroque style made in solid silver gilt.
The Chalice was made by the French Silversmith Hippolyte Puche, who worked in Paris from 1847 onwards.
The Chalice and Paten have the French silver hallmark of the period, and both pieces also bear the maker's mark.
The Calix has three oval images depicting Faith, Hope and Charity. Surrounding these are the Eucharistic themes of Grapes, Wheat & Bulrushes.
The circular stem has the decorative knop at its centre, with three raised winged Cherub heads.
The circular base has three oval scenes depicting The Garden of Gethsemane, The Way of the Cross and The Crucifixion. Between these are large raised winged Cherub heads.
The edge of the base is a shaped hexafoil design, set with further raised winged Cherub heads, with grapes and decoration between.
Chalice comes with matching solid silver gilt well-design Paten. The centre of Paten has a large raised scene of the Last Supper, surrounded with beading.
Chalice Height 32cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 9.5cm. Diameter of Paten 17cm. Overall weight 912g.
Complete with original lined 'mushroom' shaped carrying case.
