Antique Baroque Chalice and Paten Ref 8192

19th century French Chalice and Paten in Ornate Baroque style made in solid silver gilt.
The Chalice was made in France between 1819-1838 by the silversmith L Dupouy.
The Chalice and Paten have the French silver hallmark of the period, and both pieces also bear the maker's mark.
The Calix has three oval roundels depicting Faith, Hope and Charity. Between these are Eucharistic symbols of Grapes, Wheat and bulrushes.
The circular stem leads to the large oval knop. This has three oval roundels depicting the Holy Family, between which are further Eucharistic symbols.
The circular base has three large scenes depicting The washing of the Disciples' feet, The Crucifixion, and Christ being laid in the Sepulchre. Grape vines are worked between.
The edge of the base has six roundels including The Sacred Hearts, The Ten Commandments, Chalice & Host, The Holy Trinity.
Chalice comes with matching solid silver gilt well-design Paten. The centre of Paten has a large raised scene of The Descent from the Cross.
Chalice Height 33.5cm. Base diameter 16cm. Diameter of top of cup 9.5cm. Diameter of Paten 16.5cm. Overall weight 600g.
Complete with original mushroom shaped carrying case.
