Antique French Gothic Chalice Ref 7984
Antique French Gothic Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Chalice and Paten both made in France in the early part of the 20th century by the highly renowned French Silversmith partnership Armand-Calliat of Lyon.
Both pieces are made in solid silver, gilded throughout.
Both are hallmarked with the French silver hallmark of the period and both pieces bear Armand-Calliat's maker's mark.
The Chalice is finished with fine engraving throughout. The cup has a Gothic floral design engraved.
The circular stem leads to the shaped hexafoil knop, finished with more engraving work and fine beading.
The hexafoil petalled base is finished with fine engraving throughout, with an engraved Crucifixion to one side.
There are two further rims of fine beading round the edge of the base.
The matching well shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt. It has fine engraving in Gothic style worked around the loaves and fishes symbols.
Chalice height 22.5cm. Base diameter 13cm. Diameter of top of cup 10cm. Diameter of Paten 15.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 728g.
Complete with original Armand-Calliat lined, fitted carrying/storage case.
