Antique French Gothic Chalice Ref 8137
Antique French Gothic Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Chalice and Paten both made in France in the latter part of the 19th century. The Chalice was made by Chevron.
Both pieces are made in solid silver, gilded throughout.
Both are hallmarked with the French silver hallmark of the period and both pieces bear their maker's marks.
The calix to Chalice is made in fine filigree work incorporating winged animals and decoration.
The circular stem is made with six vertical columns.
The knop is finished with six engraved circular lozenges.
The hexagonal petalled base is finished with filigree work, matching the Calix, to each petal.
The edge of the base is finished with decoration, and a blue cross enamel sits to one edge.
The blending well shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt. It is contemporary to the Chalice. It has an engraved centre with a wheat & grapes design worked round a central cross.
Chalice height 25cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 10cm. Diameter of Paten 15cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 670g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying/storage case.
