Romanesque style Chalice & Paten Ref 6826
French Romanesque Chalice & Paten in solid silver gilt.
Chalice & matching Paten by the French Silversmith Paul Brunet who worked in Paris in the late 19th & early 20th centuries.
Chalice and Paten are both hallmarked with French silver hallmarks and the maker's mark.
The Chalice is made in Romanesque style, with a wide bowl to the cup. Around the cup is some decorative work, with animals worked into the design.
The circular stem leads to the large knop, and then beyond that to the round base.
The base is finished with the same style of decorative work as round the cup, with gargoyles incorporated in the design. A small cross is set on one side of the base.
The matching well design Paten has a large engraving of the loaves and fish to the centre.
Chalice height 18cm. Base diameter 14cm. Diameter of top of cup 12 cm. Diameter of Paten 15cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 785g.
Complete with original carrying case finished with brass handle and clasps, and bearing the maker's name Brunet Orfevre of Paris.
Additionally, the original Consecration Certificate is with this Chalice, confirming it was consecrated in Paris on June 15th 1928.
