English Sterling Silver Gilt Chalice & Paten Ref 8805
English Gothic Chalice & Paten in solid sterling silver gilt.
Chalice made by the Silversmiths Edgar Ernest Davis, in London, England, in 1958.
Solid silver gilt Paten also made by Edgar Ernest Davis, in London in 1953.
Chalice and Paten are both hallmarked with English sterling silver hallmarks, and both bear the maker's marks.
The cup is plain with a small calix to the base finished with decorative work incorporating small Chalices & Hosts in the design.
The hexagonal stem has a decorative central knop, set with six small amethysts.
The hexafoil petalled base has decorative finish and is set with a cross to one side.
The dish shaped Paten is in solid silver, gilded all over. It has a Gothic style IHS engraved to the underside, which is hammer-beaten. It fits the Chalice well.
Chalice height 18cm. Base diameter 14cm. Diameter of top of cup 11cm. Diameter of Paten 14cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 754g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
