English Sterling Silver Gilt Chalice & Paten Ref 8865
English Gothic Chalice & Paten in solid sterling silver.
George V Chalice and Paten made in Birmingham, England, in 1934, by Hayes & Finch.
Chalice and Paten are both hallmarked with English sterling silver hallmarks, and both have the Hayes & Finch maker's mark.
The Chalice has a plain cup with a small decorative calix to the base, decorated in a foliage design.
The hexagonal stem is set with a large circular central knop. This is very decorative and is set with four diamond shaped blue and enamels.
The hexafoil petalled base has an engraving of The Crucifixion with Our Lady and St John to one petal.
The spread star shaped foot is finished with fine decoration to the edged and feet.
The matching dish shaped Paten is in solid silver, gilded all over. It has an engraved Gothic style IHS with cross and it fits the Chalice well.
Chalice height 20cm. Base diameter at the widest points 16cm. Diameter of top of cup 11.5cm. Diameter of Paten 14cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 695g.
Chalice comes complete with original lined, fitted carrying case complete with working lock and key.
