English Sterling Silver Chalice & Paten Ref 9008

English Gothic Chalice & Paten in solid sterling silver.
Chalice made in London, in 1940, by the silversmiths F Osborne & Co.
Blending Paten made in London in 1963, with the maker's initials SEM.
Chalice and Paten are both hallmarked with English sterling silver hallmarks, and both bear their respective maker's mark.
The cup to the Chalice is plain and is gilded inside.
The hexagonal stem is worked with punch work with crosses in the design.
The large knop has six circular lozenges, spelling the name 'JESUS' in Greek. It is finished with fine beading work.
The lower part of the stem has rich decoration and beading work leading to top part of the base.
The hexafoil petalled base has more punched work round the bottom edge as the base steps down.
The blending dish shaped Paten is in solid silver, gilded all over. It fits the Chalice well.
Chalice height 22.5cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 10.5cm. Diameter of Paten 15cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 950g.
Chalice comes complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
